Cultural Walking Tour Khayelitsha

Category:

Would your client want to discover a township from a different perspective? This is a unique 3-4 excursion where they will get to know the locals and hear their stories.

Get to know the real Khayelitsha

The tour starts at Cape Town Taxi station where your client will be met by a local guide and take local transport to the biggest township  of Cape Town, Khayelitsha. Khayelitsha means ‘New Home‘ in Xhosa, one of the eleven official languages in South Africa. Upon arrival they will walk to the highest sand dune in the area from where they will have amazing views over the area. This introduction to Khayelitsha will continue to several local initiatives and to the train station flea market and Khayelitsha Craft Market. A pit-stop for some refreshments and the best coffee in Khayelitsha can be enjoyed at the vibey and inspiring Department of Coffee.

They will also pass the FIFA project Football for Hope Centre and when at the Khayelitsha Craft Market your clients can do some shopping, chat with the locals or listen to African music. After the Craft Market  they will take a local taxi to visit the Golden’s Recycling Projects in Makhaza where locals will tell stories about this project and share their practical experiences. After the 3-4 hours walking tour the guide will travel back to Cape Town with everyone and the tour ends there where the morning started.

Note! This is an introduction to real life in the township so places mentioned are a guideline only as visits will depend on day,  time and availability.
