South to North Africa – Cape to Cairo Expedition
For the adventurous at heart or the bucket-list tickers, we can assist with arranging a trip of a lifetime and take away some of the headache!
Set off from Cape Town in a fully equipped 4×4 vehicle making your way to Zimbabwe for a few days in the Matobo National park before heading to the spectacular Victoria Falls (with the option to include a night or two in Chobe). From there into Zambia as you head to Lake Kariba for a few nights on a houseboat where you can fish and enjoy what you caught or be pampered and include a full time chef who will prepare your meals while you sip sundowners watching incredible sunsets, birdlife and game. In Zambia visit Shiwa Ngandu which is located on the tail end of the Great Rift Valley and relax in the Kapishya Hot Springs.
Form there drive through to Lake Malawi for a few days swimming and snorkelling (it has the largest number of fish species of any lake in the world) before heading via Tarangire National Park to Arusha where you drop off your vehicle and get picked up for a 6 day Serengeti safari including the Ngorongoro Crater that takes you all the way through to Nairobi.
From Nairobi you will have a guided 4 day trip through Northern Kenya and the Sambura National Park to Marsabit and Moyale, the border of Ethiopia where you are met and have a fully 10 day guided tour through southern Ethiopia – visiting the Konso Tribe, hiking in Turmi, to Arba Minch, Hawassa and ending in Addis Ababa.
To avoid the current conflict in Sudan you then catch a flight from Addis Ababa to Aswan and it’s a 12 day trip seeing the highlights of Egypt including Abu Simbel, enjoying a 3 nights stay on a dahabiya boat while you sail the Nile from Aswan to Luxor. In Luxor visit Valley of the Kings, Karnak and the temple of Hatshepsut. From there board an overnight train from Luxor to end with 3 days in Cairo to visit the Pyramids, Sphinx and Egyptian Museum.
The trip can also be done in reverse and is approx. 65 days long but can be extended wherever you would want to spend more time and explore even further.
We provide a very detailed itinerary and have plenty of tips from those who have done the full trip , so as to make it an easy to plan, well-informed adventure for you!
