Responsibility

When your clients travel responsibly/sustainably they make sure that their holiday doesn’t harm the country they visit, its people and their cultures, but benefit or even create opportunities. Nature and cultural heritage is too precious to not be safeguarded. Our future generations should also be able to enjoy it.

FTTSA (Fair Trade in Tourism South Africa) is a pioneering initiative that promotes equitable and sustainable tourism development in South Africa through various activities including awareness raising, capacity building, advocacy and the facilitation of the world’s first Fair Trade tourism certification programme. When you book a Fair Trade trip or an excursion with us, you will not only support the local communities and enterprises, but also make this world a better place for everyone.

Fair Trade tourism works with 6 principles which are;

  1. Fair share – everyone involved gets a fair share of the income.
  2. Fair say – everyone gets the right to participate in decisions that concern them.
  3. Respect – visitors and organizations should have respect for human rights, culture and environment.
  4. Reliability – all services should be reliable and safe for the host and the visitor.
  5. Transparency – everyone should know where they stand.
  6. Sustainability – the tourism industry has to become sustainable.

Travelife is vastly becoming Europe’s leading certification initiative for tourism companies committed to reach sustainability. Travelife helps tourism stakeholders to offer experiences to improve the impact on local communities, economy and environment.

When choosing a Travelife certified tour operator, you can rest assured that your clients holiday will not cause harm to local communities, economy and environment. AAA Travel aims to reach full sustainability in everything we do and offer.

A carbon footprint describes the sum of all carbon dioxide emissions that are produced as a result of an activity by a person, company or product. Our everyday actions at home or at the office consume energy, which produces carbon emissions.

The greenhouse gases we emit on a daily basis are causing global warming. Therefore it’s our responsibility to understand our personal impact and off-set our carbon footprint by funding an equivalent carbon dioxide saving somewhere else. This can be done by planting trees, sourcing food locally, using public transportation, using renewable energies…

As the 1st company in South Africa to include a carbon offset contribution based on each client’s personal itinerary, it allows your clients to compensate for transportation, accommodation and services for each holiday.

We believe that travellers care about having a positive impact on their destination and where their visits benefit the local communities and nature. With a responsible holiday your clients are also able to support local income generation by visiting locally owned shops and restaurants. Travelling responsibly empowers fair share, democracy, respect, reliability, transparency and sustainability which we adhere to.
