Welcome to beautiful Cape Town! You will be welcomed at the airport and transferred to the luxurious Silo Hotel in  the vibrant Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. You will be checked in and have time to relax and spend at leisure. Why not head out and explore the area with its bustling shops and restaurants.

Overnight: The Silo Hotel

The Silo is a magical space towering above the V&A Waterfront surrounded by the natural wonder of South Africa’s Mother City. The Silo hs 28 rooms, including a spectacular penthouse. Each room has been individually designed and decorated by the stylish wand of Liz Biden. Colourful and eclectic pieces juxtapose the modern, industrial architecture. The 6 room categories are based on the room size and the views. The rooms are more spacious vertically than horizontally due to the unique architecture of The Silo and in particular the ingenious design of the pillowed window bays which are one of the key architectural features.

The building has been designed by Thomas Heatherwick, Founder and Principal of the London-based Heatherwick Studio. From the outside, the greatest visible change to the building’s original structure is the addition of pillowed glazing panels, inserted into the geometry of the hotel floors, which will bulge outward as if gently inflated. By night, this transforms the building into a glowing lantern or beacon in the harbour.

Cape Town is the epicentre of South Africa’s food and wine culture. It’s hard to venture far without someone handing you a glass of sauvignon blanc or opining on their favourite restaurant.

Cape Town is the ultimate destination for connoisseurs of fine wine, cuisine and la joie de vivre. From the bustling café culture of Kloof Street and Bree Street to the vibrant food market at the Old Biscuit Mill, you’ll find all manner of treats in between.

The Old Biscuit Mill roars to life on a Saturday morning as locals and tourists jostle for a seat among the oyster shucking and cork popping while purveyors of fine foods and hearty ales showcase their wares.

The Silo is located in the heart of the Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront. What better way to start your gourmet itinerary than with an Art & Wine pairing followed by dinner at Luke Dale-Roberts’ The Test Kitchen – South Africa’s top restaurant and one of the 50 best restaurants in the world.

Other top restaurants in Cape Town include Pot Luck Club, The Shortmarket Club, Foxcroft, La Colombe, Chef’s Warehouse and The Greenhouse

Today, you will set out from Cape Town and into the scenic Cape Winelands. There are over 800 wine estates in the Western Cape, most of which have tasting rooms and many of which have excellent restaurants.

There are several top wine estates and tasting rooms in close proximity to La Residence in Franschhoek including Chamonix, La Motte, Grande Provence, Rupert & Rothschild, Holden Manz and Mullineux & Leeu.

Slightly further afield is the renowned wine route of Stellenbosch which is well worth exploring if time permits. Some of our favourites include Delaire Graff, Tokara, Cavalli, Klein Zalze and Babylonstoren.

After a morning wine-tasting in the beautiful winelands you will be brought to the Silo’s sister property, La Residence, where you will enjoy a gourmet lunch. cuisine emphasises fresh, local ingredients, many of which are grown on the estate.

Because the cuisine is such an integral part of the experience at La Residence, our guests will often sit down with the chefs to discuss their preferences and dietary requirements with menus being tailored accordingly.
